Bangkok became the capital of Siam in 1768. In Thai “Krung Thep”, meaning “City of angels” its full name is:

“Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Yuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Phiman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit”

The Giant Swing constructed in 1784, located in front of Wat Suthat temple Bangkok, is a religious structure of red teak pillars, once used for Brahmanic ceremonies. In 2005, the Giant Swing, together with Wat Suthat, was suggested as a future UNESCO World Heritage Site.
